KLFM MEMBERS PAGE
Radio KLFM (often just known as KLFM) is the Community Radio Station in Central Victoria that is specifically licensed to serve the 55+ Community.
As a Community Station we are locally owned, controlled and operated by our community. We are a non-profit association of locals with an elected committee who is responsible for governance. Volunteers mostly run the station.
Community members are encouraged to be involved and to thus help ensure KLFM's ongoing success. In fact without community involvement KLFM would cease to exist. Interested people, particularly from the 55+ age group, are invited to consider the following opportunities to be involved with KLFM.
VOLUNTEERS: Volunteers are the backbone of a Community Radio Station. Operating a radio station requires a lot of different skills and inputs. Most of the people who assist in running KLFM are volunteers who provide their skills and inputs on a voluntary basis. They give their time to ensure that KLFM stays on air and that the programs have both the quality and content that our community likes to hear. KLFM volunteers are generally committed to regular ongoing tasks. Some have previous experience in radio, others have no previous experience in radio.
Areas where KLFM volunteers are involved include:
¨ Office/Administration/Reception/Computer work
¨ Building and general maintenance/ Cleaning
¨ On Air presentation (after suitable training)
¨ Production of material for broadcast
¨ Technical areas for those with appropriate skills
Our volunteers gain great satisfaction from the positive feedback and appreciation shown by our listeners.
To find out more about becoming a volunteer at KLFM please contact the Station Manager.
CLUB KLFM: provides an opportunity for our community to show practical support for KLFM by becoming a Subscriber. Club KLFM Subscribers assist the station in a number of ways including:
¨ The number of registered Subscribers helps to show the licensing authority (Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA)) our community support
¨ Subscribers will be posted a twice a year survey/feedback form (usually in March and September). When completed and returned to the station the information obtained will assist us to ensure that KLFM continues to meet the needs of our community.
¨ The annual Subscriber Fee provides some finances to help run the station and also pays for the twice a year survey.
Club KLFM annual Subscriber Fees are currently:
Single $15 Couple $20
Pensioner $10 Pensioner Couple $15
Club/Organisation $35

MEMBERSHIP: Radio KLFM Inc. is the legal entity responsible for administering the station. It is a non-profit association incorporated under the Victorian Associations Incorporation Act 1981.
Members are vital for the existence of KLFM. An incorporated association consists of its members, without members there is no association.
The number of members also helps to show the licensing authority (Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA)) our community support
Members receive notice of and attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and any Special General Meetings (SGM) of the Association. The operation of the station is reported on to members and discussed at these meetings. Members may propose items of business and vote at these meetings. Members of the Committee are elected at the AGM. Only members may nominate and vote for positions on the Committee.
The Committee is legally responsible for governance of the station. This includes ensuring that KLFM is run in accordance with the various laws that we have to comply with and for setting station policy.
Members will also be sent the Survey/Feedback Form that Club KLFM Subscribers receive.
BECOMING A MEMBER: To become a member of Radio KLFM Inc. print out and complete the Application For Membership form below and send it to:
The Secretary, Radio KLFM, PO BOX 2997, BENDIGO VIC 3554

The Membership Fee may be paid by quarterly installments. The annual Membership Fee may be varied by the Committee as provided for in the Constitution.
In setting the annual membership fee the Committee has regard to what seems to be a reasonable fee for those who are interested in being a member of the Association and is affordable to potential members. (The quarterly payment option is aimed at assisting affordability). The Committee will also consider any information from an applicant for membership arguing that the fee is unreasonable or a barrier to their membership.
LIFE MEMBERSHIP: Life Membership may be offered to persons who have given outstanding service to the association. At the 2006 AGM it was resolved to offer Life Membership to all volunteers who have given five years service to the Association.
Life Memberships must be approved by two thirds of the members voting at a General Meeting.
Life Members have the same rights and responsibilities as other members, but they do not have to pay an annual Membership Fee.
